Ida Simpson

Ida Simpson was born in London in 1926. She came from a big family but in 1940 was evacuated with her sister to Paignton in Devon. She went to Secretarial College in Torquay to learn to be short hand typist. In 1947 she went home to live with her Mother where she began to look for a job. Eventually she found a job as a Secretary in an American shipping company based in the City of London. After three years she decided that this kind of work was not fulfilling and left to work for the Salvation Army.
