St Mary of Eton, Hackney Wick

The Board of Trustees of the Hackney Society cordially invites you to the Society’s Annual General Meeting on

Tuesday 24th November at St Mary-of-Eton Church, Eastway, London E9 5JA

7pm for a tour of the Grade II* listed St Mary of Eton Church and in particular the multi award-winning new buildings (see Spaces issue 50).

St Mary of Eton is a sumptuous church by Bodley and Garner, two of the greatest late Victorian ecclesiastical architects. The building was largely funded by Eton School as part of its long standing mission to rescue the blighted souls of the East End.  It has for many years been a centre for high Anglican worship. The Church and the adjacent buildings (part of the Eton Mission’s original settlement) have been restored and extended by Matthew Lloyd Architects, who will be leading the tour. The Church is featured in our publication Hackney - Modern, Restored, Forgotten, Ignored.

The tour will be followed by the formal Annual General Meeting, at 8pm.

Please confirm your attendance online using the Billetto link below, by Tuesday 17 November 2015.

Members and non-members are welcome, but only paid-up members may vote on matters at the AGM.

The relevant article in the Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association, is Article 49:

Appointment of Reporting Accountants or Auditors, The Company must appoint properly qualified reporting accountants or properly qualified auditors if the level of the Company's income or assets from time to time makes this a legal requirement.

The Trustees are of the view that this allows us to appoint David.

6. Approval of the Mission Statement that Trustees are proposing for the Society:

Promoting the highest standards in design and protecting Hackney's unique heritage.

The Hackney Society has encouraged positive development of the borough's built and natural environments, through engagement with a broad cross-section of local people and experts. We encourage exemplary new design, regeneration and conservation of our rich heritage through Spaces (our newsletter), our publications, walks, talks, meetings, website and social media.
