Kingsland CAAC July 2019

Planning Applications for Kingsland CAAC meeting for 1 July 2019

2019/1287 and 2019/1297 25 Albion Square E8 4ES Replacement of existing single glazed timber framed windows with new double glazed timber framed windows (Danny Huber 020 8356 1453)

We object to this application. The proposed 'typical' replacement window, shown in the drawings, does not match the style of the original windows which are a classic six equal sized panes over six panes and match those of the neighbouring house. We are also concerned at the larger size of the proposed glazing bars. We trust that as much as possible of the original fabric of the windows will be retained.

2019/1909 2-54 Baltic Place N1 5AQ Proposed installation of new awning (Raymond Okot 020 8356 8080)

No objection.

2019/2205 125 De Beauvoir Road N1 4DL Erection of a single storey ground floor rear extension (Danny Huber 020 8356 1453)

No objection.

2019/2105 The Jago Dalston 440 Kingsland Road E8 4AA Installation of 1x internally illuminated projection sign and 1x internally illuminated readograph signs. (Nick Bovaird 0208 356 8291)

No objection.

2019/0993 and 2019/1462 554 Kingsland Road E8 4AH Internal alterations including removal of timber panelling and replacement with plaster; external alterations including new shopfront; erection of roof lantern and installation of extract duct on ground floor flat roof of front part of building. [Part retrospective] [Note for consultation: Application for planning permission 2019/1462 also received] (Gerard Livett 020 8356 8398)

We strongly object to this application which we find poorly written and very confusing. We seek clarity on any damage done to the listed building. For example where was the 18th century panelling removed from and what has happened to it? This is one of the few remaining Georgian buildings in the Kingsland Road and it is therefore important that any works to the later building at the front does not detract from the original.

2019/1406 16 Stamford Road N1 4JS Demolition of front garden wall and replace with new wall in railings (Micheal Garvey 020 8356 8053)

We have no objection but we would like to see the correct finial as evidenced by the supporting photograph. The railings should terminate with a back stay rather than the brick pier shown in the drawing. This would facilitate a run of railings should the neighbours also choose to replace their wall.

2019/1480 41 Ufton Road N1 4HE Erection of a part two storey rear extension at upper ground and 1st floor levels and reconfiguration of the rear elevation stair well glazing. (Raymond Okot 020 8356 8080)

We very strongly object to this application. The applicant proposes to dramatically extend the house completely ignoring the recommendations for extensions in the De Beauvoir Conservation Area Design Guide. There has also been no attempt to normalise the unauthorized conversion of the garage into habitable accommodation which we pointed out in our comments on an earlier application.
