Objection. Insufficient information to enable an assessment. For example, there is no plan even to show where the proposed signage would be located.

 

2022/2169 Snv Food And Wine, Basement And Ground Floors, 149 - 150 Shoreditch High Street, E1 6HU Advertisement Consent for the display of two fascia signs for a temporary period of 6 months. Advertisement Consent (Erin Glancy)

. Objection. The site is located in a visible and prominent location in the South Shoreditch Conservation Area. It is considered that the additional signage would result in unacceptable visual clutter and is contrary to the Hackney Shopfront Design Guide. Also the proposed structure would mask a building that makes a positive contribution to the Shoreditch CA.

 

2022/2224 180 - 182 Shoreditch High Street, E1 6HY Listed Building Consent for replacement of external first floor corridor wall. Listed Building Consent (Nick Bovaird)

No objection on the grounds that there would be minmal direct impact on the Shoreditch CA but subject to the LPA satisfying itself that the proposed demolition is definitely required and that the detailsof it’s replacement are secured by conditions.

 

2022/2185 341-345 Old Street, EC1V 9LL Insertion of new windows at first to third floor levels on the eastern elevation including the relocation of existing air-conditioning units. Full Planning Permission (Alix Hauser)

No Objection on conservation grounds.

Objection the location of the signage is inappropriate and would result in the loss of historic detailing that forms part of the existing building and character and appearance of the Shoreditch CA. The signage should be located within the frieze or fascia panel immediately above the shopfront window.

No objection but the Shoreditch CA has noted with some alarm the amount of retrospective planning applications recently received

Objection. Strong OBJECTION due to visual clutter, light pollution and detrimental impact on the character and appearance of the CA. We also question the environmental appropriateness of having illuminated signage in terms of energy use and carbon emissions. The only reason that these pavement obstructions are being introduced is for advertising purposes, the other benefits are merely attempts to ameliorate the planning system. They are not genuine public benefits to outweigh the harm done to the streetscape and loss of amenity due to obstruction and visual clutter.
