Celebrating great design in Hackney

The Design Awards are a celebration of great design in Hackney and nominations for the 2010 awards are now open. Since the first Design Awards in 2004 over 100 nominations have been received, 39 shortlisted and 23 recognised as winners, commendations or mentions.

Everyone can nominate!

Everyone is encouraged to nominate any project they feel represents good quality design and sustainable development.

How to enter

Complete Hackney Council's online form

Complete the form in the nomination pack and post to: Freepost Nat 18925, Hackney Design Awards 2010, Regeneration and Planning Division, 3rd Floor, 2 Hillman Street, London E8 1FB

The closing date for nominations is Monday 2 August 2010.

What can be nominated?

The nomination must be in the borough of Hackney and have been completed no earlier than 1 September 2008 and be fully functioning by the closing date of nominations on 2 August 2010.

What needs to be considered when making a nomination?

The Council ask that you consider the following aspects when making a nomination:
Quality – it is of the highest quality in terms of its design, materials used or construction, and is an exemplar for its end use
Visual Amenity – makes a positive visual contribution to its location
Innovation – is an original response to design, construction or environmental constraints, or uses pioneering building techniques
Sustainability – incorporates design, construction, infrastructure, management, landscape, natural or other mechanisms/processes.
