Lower Clapton Road, E5

This fine grade II* listed building has had a number of owners since the Hackney Volunteers' sold the building a couple of years ago. This is one of the few grand 18th century houses, with a stable block, that remains in the Borough. It is being left to rot.

I do hope somebody does stop Pond House from rotting. It is a beautiful house. My father lived in the flat upstairs while it was the volunteers' club. I do hope the fire places and the original snooker holders still remain. It has many little suprises ... and it is meant to have a lady ghost who walks up and down the stairs ... a few people have seen her, though my father never did.
