A group of members of the Hackney Society who meet regularly to comment on planning applications submitted to Hackney Council. It particularly aims to respond to: proposals for large-scale development projects; applications relating to Listed Buildings outside Conservation Areas; and others which concern buildings it considers to be of architectural or historic importance for Hackney.
Group members also try to involve the wider community in engaging with the planning process. They have helped arrange public meetings on the future of Latham's Timber Yards as well as workshops with Planning Aid for London to discuss London's Olympics Bid, and hope to build on these initiatives.
The group aims to meet once a month and always welcomes new members with local knowledge and enthusiasm, a willingness to get involved and a desire to help shape the future appearance of your local area!
Please get in touch with The Hackney Society Offices if you would like to get involved.
