We organise a wide range of talks, walks, guided tours and other events, as well as the annual Hackney History Festival each May.
Tickets range from free to £5 for members/£10 for non-members via our Eventbrite page.

Wikipedia Editing Workshop
Saturday 1st August 2026, 2pm- 4pmHackney Archives, E8 3BQ (and the first Saturday each month).
Join us to learn how to create content on Wikipedia, a free-content online encyclopedia written and maintained by a community of volunteers. Trainers from Wikimedia UK will give an overview of Wikipedia editing, why it is important and help attendees to get started.
Squatting in Hackney with Tom Hunter, Mark Wilson and Leah Gordon

To mark the 50th anniversary of Chats Palace, photographer Tom Hunter joins Mark Wilson and Leah Gordon for an illustrated talk exploring Hackney’s squatting communities, housing co-operatives and alternative lifestyles in the 1980s and 1990s, drawing on personal stories, photographs and archival material. The 90-minute event will be followed by a Q&A and music, with priority discounted booking for Hackney Society members before general booking opens on 30 June.
